Abstract | Leaders influence the lives of many and impact the success of a wide variety of organizations. Career and Technical Education (CTE) Administrative Directors provide leadership in CTE school settings as they lead and manage personnel, facilities, curriculum, and student services. This study sought to determine the essential leadership skills that are important for success as a CTE Administrative Director. The findings indicated that there are a variety of leadership skills that are important for success as a CTE Administrative Director. The top three include self-responsibility and management, leadership and coaching, and written communication. As a result of these findings, CTE leadership programs could enhance leadership preparation and efforts to cultivate the development of leadership skills by CTE Administrative Directors.
