AbstractThe paper presents a pilot project that explored students' perceptions regarding the implementation of ePortfolios using the online platform Mahara in an undergraduate teacher preparation course. Quantitative and qualitative data were gathered through an online survey and small focus group. The findings indicate that students perceived the integration of ePortfolios in higher education to be of benefit, despite their having had to overcome some technical difficulties and deficiencies in the initial training. They also provided insights about the importance of the initial training and ongoing support for both instructors and students in the implementation process. Key findings emphasized the importance of building learning communities to promote student empowerment in the process of implementing the ePortfolio. Finally, the data indicate that students perceive the ePortfolio to be of great value in showcasing their professional skills and competencies to their future employers. (As Provided).
