AbstractJust as steam was found to be a source of power during the Industrial Revolution, increasing factory production and improving transportation, today STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) can be found to be a framework that empowers teachers, increases student engagement, and improves student understanding. Although a limited number of designated "STEAM" schools as well as some "traditional" schools throughout the United States support a STEAM curriculum with modified school schedules and structures, the fact remains that STEAM connections can be integrated into any existing mathematics curriculum through the implementation of STEAM-related projects, lessons, and/ or activity-based problems. STEAM can be integrated into the classroom through lessons or activities that connect mathematical concepts to science, technology, engineering, and the arts. This article provides mathematics teachers with four different STEAM activities that can be used when teaching linear functions. These four activities connect mathematics to science, technology, engineering, and art. (ERIC).
