Abstract | There are important lessons to be learned from taking a comparative perspective in considering migration. Comparative examination of immigration experiences provides a way to glean common denominators of adaptation while considering the specificity of sending and receiving contexts and cultures. Equally important is a historical perspective that provides a way for us to consider how we may have gone through similar travails in the past while recognizing that we face particular challenges in this moment.
