Abstract | Funded by the Center of Inquiry in the Liberal Arts (CILA) at Wabash College, the Wabash National Study of Liberal Arts Education (WNS) is a multi-institution, multi-year, longitudinal study designed to identify the academic and non-academic collegiate experiences that foster liberal learning. This article describes how the study was done and highlights some of the major findings to date, with an emphasis on those related to cognitive outcomes. A more detailed description of the study's methodology and the sampling procedure, as well as the complete papers and research reports documenting the findings discussed, are available online at http://www.education.uiowa.edu/centers/crue/Publications.aspx#WNSLAE.
