| Abstract | This study analyzes counseling interview techniques learned during counselor preparation in relationship to techniques that counselors consider useful in actual secondary school counseling. One third of the techniques (such as esatblishing rapport, approving and reassuring, dealing with student resistance) showed a correlation between theory and practice well above the .01 level of significance. Counselors often found themselves playing more active roles in interviewing than those for which their training had prepared them. (EK) |
