AbstractThe focus of this study was emotional intelligence and burnout in teachers in Thailand. The problem addressed in this study was the unknown level of emotional intelligence among teachers in Thailand, which may be connected to their levels of depression, stress, anxiety, and burnout. The purpose of this quantitative correlational study was to determine whether or not stress, anxiety, depression, burnout, and emotional intelligence related to one another among teachers in Thailand. The participants were 84 Thai primary school teachers from Phitsanulok Primary Education Office Area 2. A quantitative methodology, correlational design, and convenience sampling were used in this study, with trait emotional intelligence as the framework. The study was hosted on Qualtrics, and links were sent to the participants through their area LINE group. The Thai Emotional Intelligence Screening Test, Maslach Burnout Inventory for Educators, and Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scales were used as the instruments for this study, and the data collected were analyzed through SPSS. The findings indicated no statistically significant correlation between emotional intelligence and burnout and emotional intelligence and stress, depression, and anxiety. The implication was that Thai teachers express emotional intelligence differently than western teachers and specifically measuring Thai teachers' emotional intelligence might give a better understanding of their emotional intelligence in relation to burnout, stress, anxiety, and depression. For future educational practice, the recommendations were to design an instrument that specifically measures emotional intelligence in Thai teachers and to focus on their personal and work-related stressors. Future research recommendations were to examine emotional intelligence, burnout, stress, anxiety, and depression in tandem with Thai teachers' age and experience, to conduct this study with Thai high school teachers, and to conduct this study with a different emotional intelligence instrument.
