AbstractOrganizational commitment as a strategy promotes effective employee retention, satisfaction, and performance. Puerto Rico and the United States are facing a major teacher shortage, and teacher attrition is the primary contributor. The problem addressed by this study is a lack of educators/administrators' strategies to help promote and commit teachers to stay in their organizations has cost the educational industry billions of dollars. This qualitative single case study aimed to identify effective strategies used by educators/administrators to retain employees was performed in 2022. The study explores educators'/administrators' strategies to retain teachers in a private school in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. The two guiding research questions were: (a) What strategies do educators /administrators of private educational institutions use to retain employees; (b) How can educators and administrators prevent or mitigate attrition from happening? The sample size was 16 educators/administrators from a private school in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. The conceptual framework was Three-Component Model of Organizational Commitment. The study results contributed to the existing body of knowledge on teacher and employee retention from an educator/administrator perspective. Educators/administrators at the school created a knowledge-sharing environment that promoted coaching, feedback, and continuous training that positively engaged employees' sense of belongingness and intentions to stay in the school. The implications for positive social change include the potential to foster organizational commitment by providing educational leaders with important insights. Strengthening teacher and employee commitment contributes to society through increased institution profitability resulting from high teacher retention rates.
