Abstract | Purpose and Method of Study: The purpose of this nonexperimental quantitative study was to examine the relationship between level of job satisfaction and perceived organizational support among nonexempt employees at East Central University. A stepwise multiple regression research design was used to investigate the association between the independent variable of job satisfaction and the dependent variable of perceived organizational support. Participants included 95 full-time nonexempt employees who were employed by the university for at least a year. Surveys were distributed and collected in April of 2022. To ensure confidentially and anonymity, no identifying information or demographic data was collected. Survey data was inputted into the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) 28.0 for data analysis. Findings and Conclusions: Descriptive statistics indicated the levels of satisfaction and dissatisfaction among the nine facets of job satisfaction. A majority of employees indicated that they were satisfied with four facets of job satisfaction: fringe benefits, 52%; supervision, 75%; coworkers, 68%; and nature of work, 75%. A majority of employees were dissatisfied with three facets of job satisfaction: pay, 81%; promotion, 73%; and contingent rewards, 60%. The average perceived organizational support score was 32.42, which indicates that on average employees slightly agreed that they were supported by the organization. The results from the stepwise multiple regression and analysis of variance indicated that five facets of job satisfaction--contingent rewards, nature of work, operating procedures, pay, and promotion--can successfully predict an employee's perception of organizational support.
