AbstractThe well-being of faculty and staff in higher education was significantly impacted during the COVID-19 global pandemic. The purpose of this quantitative correlational study was to determine whether perceptions of organizational support (POS) or perceptions of supervisor support (PSS) influenced burnout and thriving, two well-being indicators, among faculty and staff during a global crisis. Survey data from a sample of 381 higher education full-time faculty and staff at one institution in Utah (USA) were analyzed using multiple regression analysis. Results showed a significant negative relationship between burnout and thriving, significant positive relationships between POS/PSS and thriving at work, and significant negative relationships between POS/PSS and burnout. The findings suggest that when POS and PSS increase among higher education employees, employee well-being increases even during a global pandemic. Based on these results, it is recommended that higher education researchers, administrators, supervisors and employees recognize the impact POS and PSS have on the reduction of experienced burnout and increased thriving at work. Further research is recommended post-COVID-19 to determine if and how results may differ. [The dissertation citations contained here are published with the permission of ProQuest LLC.
