Abstract	School work is designed to challenge students and help them meet grade-level academic standards. Students with disabilities have the right to learn and participate in the general education curriculum. Public school districts must provide these students with the services, accommodations, and modifications that they need to learn the same material as students without disabilities, to the extent appropriate. Public schools have a responsibility to ensure that all students with disabilities have access to a free appropriate public education (FAPE). If a child is having trouble learning at school, they may need more or different support. One option as a first step is to ask the child's teacher if they are also concerned. Another is to ask for a comprehensive special education evaluation. This guidebook is intended to help Minnesota parents and guardians navigate this process. (ERIC).
