Abstract	This tool is part of the Countering Truth Decay initiative, which is focused on restoring the role of facts, data, and analysis in U.S. political and civil discourse and the policymaking process. RAND researchers developed this educational tool, consisting of five sequenced lesson plans for middle school teachers, with the goal of improving RAND's outreach to youth in ways that also help counter Truth Decay. The lesson plans will help students understand the following: how public policy relates to their own lives, why it is important to learn about public policy topics from credible sources, and how to be more critical consumers and creators of information. The lessons culminate with students applying what they learn about a public policy topic--via a question-and-answer (Q&A) video with a RAND expert, a student-friendly Q&A document, and their own investigation into the topic--to create an information product that can be used to communicate policy-relevant concepts to their peers.
