Abstract | This is the 2017-2018 annual report on the academic progress of English language learners in Miami-Dade County Public Schools. This report is the first annual report designed to satisfy the requirements of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) that was signed into law in 2015. School year 2017-2018 was the first year in which state and local educational agencies were required to implement the provisions of that law. This report addresses the following three areas: (1) Demographic characteristics of students classified as English Language Learners (ELL); (2) English language acquisition results of ELL students on the English Language Proficiency assessments known as ACCESS for ELLs 2.0; and (3) Academic achievement results of students in the English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) program and those who exited the ESOL program on the Florida Standards Assessments (FSA), and End-of-Course (EOC) assessments. [For the 2016-2017 report, see ED618085.] (ERIC). |
