Abstract | Iowa's Statewide Voluntary Preschool Program for Four-Year-Old Children (SWVPP) is an important part of the state's comprehensive early childhood effort, providing more opportunities for young children to access quality preschool and enter school ready to learn. The preschool programs are expected to serve four-year-old children with a range of abilities representing the social, linguistic, cultural, and economic diversity of families within the communities. This fact sheet provides information on the following topics: (1) funded enrollment through the SWVPP; (2) Iowa school districts participating in the SWVPP in 2020-2021; (3) funding information for the Preschool Program for the years 2007-2020; (4) Iowa's national ranking; (5) what the four-year-old preschool program offers; and (6) early indicators of success.
