Abstract | In 2015, at least 60% of the student population at FSVH School District failed to achieve proficient mathematics scores in the ACT Aspire assessment (NAEP, 2015). Improving student mathematics achievement is of special importance to parents, educators, and other stakeholders. Resilience research suggests that resilience could be the solution for improving student math proficient. The purpose of this multiple case study was to explore school leaders,' teachers,' and parents' perspectives regarding factors that contribute to or impede students' abilities to develop resilience in learning mathematics within the FSVH School District. Guided by the underlying concepts of constructivism and motivation, which promote student engagement in learning, this study examined the collective perspective of those influencing students' learning environments. This multiple case study advances our understanding of how parents and educators interpret their experiences with mathematics resilient students and the factors they perceived as contributing to or impeding students' math resilience. Based upon in-depth interviews with 15 parents and educators, and thematic analysis, the data collected revealed captivating reports of factors used to support students' math resilience, and highlight factors within students' learning environments that posed potential risks to student success. These factors were related to three categories, student's characteristics, home environments, and school environments. The findings provided evidence that elementary and middle school students' mathematics resilience increased at an optimal level when all parties played significant roles in student learning. This multiple case study also provided future directions for parents and educators regarding students' math resilience.
