Abstract | Faculty advising has been identified as an area of need for the Child Development and Education Department. Over the last several years, students at a Northern California Community College have expressed their concern of not receiving enough time with academic counselors. More importantly, the students vocalized that there simply were not enough opportunities to meet with such an advisor. The Faculty Mentorship Program was designed through a Child Development Department at a Northern California Community College to provide students with additional opportunities for advising, especially when it came to their classes and job employment. The Faculty Mentorship Program was funded using The Perkins Grant to help train and facilitate faculty interested in non-counseling faculty advisor positions.
