Abstract | This study was an exploration of parental involvement in the urban public elementary school in the digital age using content analysis of literature and school district websites. In urban school districts, the attendance rate of parents participating in PTA meetings, school events, and parent-teacher conferences is low. District school websites lack resources to aid in the preparation of training parents how to understand reading and math assignments in order to assist their children with their homework. The researcher will initiate a search for resources and academic websites to create a parent pages with the essentials needed to efficiently prepare their children for adulthood. The researcher will determine the need to analyze articles and urban school district webpages to see what resources were available to increase parental involvement. The resources used in this study consisted of 50 articles highlighting parental involvement and 31 New Jersey urban school district websites. The finding were presented in a nonparametric content analysis in an eclectic approach required to capture both the statistical significance of the study and the qualitative findings gleaned during the analysis of the articles and the websites. It should be noted that 23 out of the 27 hypotheses were rejected. It would seem that there is a discrepancy in the scholarly literature reviewed and the actual practice utilized in urban schools as demonstrated by their website communication.
