AbstractThis case study focused on nontraditional students in a graduate higher education program at a private Midwestern university to determine whether or not undergraduate grade point average (GPA) was a predictor of success. Success was defined as the first score earned on the School Leaders Licensure Assessment (SLLA) examination. A linear regression was used to examine whether the independent variable, undergraduate GPA, was predictive of the dependent variable, SLLA score. Undergraduate GPA was not a predictor of SLLA score. Additional analyses were done using descriptive and inferential statistics. No statistically significant correlation was found between undergraduate GPAs and SLLA scores. There was a statistically significant difference between men and women on SLLA scores. Women, on average, scored higher (M= 181.80, SD = 6.92) than men (M = 176.17, SD = 7.64) on SLLA t(df) = 2.25(32), p = .03.
