Abstract | Teachers have reported that they have difficulty providing support to traumatized children and youth because of a lack of training in how to identify and respond to the needs of these children. The program, "Amazing Help Skills for Teachers to Unmask Trauma in Children and Youth" (AHSUM), is a trauma-focused training program, designed for primary school teachers (Grades K to 12), to assist them in identifying and effectively intervening with children and youth who are experiencing symptoms of trauma, and to understand the importance of making timely referrals to mental health providers. The AHSUM program has a developmentally-sensitive conceptual framework, and a theoretical underpinning based on trauma, and attachment. The AHSUM program was sent to 5 Subject Matter Experts, who provided feedback on program. [The dissertation citations contained here are published with the permission of ProQuest LLC.
