Abstract | This project study addressed the problem of harassment, intimidation, and bullying (HIB) at a public suburban high school in the Northeast United States. The study school implemented the Anti-bullying Program in September 2011, yet no evaluation had been conducted on whether the program was meeting its goals. Two conceptual frameworks that drove this study were the Bully Prevention in Positive Behavior Support and the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program. Using a sequential mixed method goal-based program evaluation, the research question explored whether the program was accomplishing its goals of reducing HIB incidents and increasing awareness of HIB issues. For the quantitative sequence, descriptive analysis of all HIB incidents reported at the study site during the 2 years before program implementation versus the 2 years after program implementation indicated a 64% reduction in HIB occurrences. For the qualitative sequence, interviews were conducted with 5 key stakeholders and transcripts were open coded and thematically analyzed. The themes that developed from the interviews revealed that awareness of HIB issues had increased throughout the school. The results included in the evaluation report supported that the Antibullying Program was accomplishing its goals. The evaluation report included an executive summary of findings and a PowerPoint presentation for stakeholders. The recommendations included the continuation of the Antibullying Program. The evaluation and recommended continuation of this program could lead to positive social change by increasing awareness of bullying issues throughout the school community and by further reducing the overall number of reported incidents of HIB.
