Abstract | In May 2009, the Georgia Teacher Alternative Preparation Program was revised and renamed The Georgia Teacher Academy for Preparation, Pedagogy (GaTAPP) This study examined the implementation of the revision and investigates RESA personnel participants' perception of the implementation, and school based mentor participants perception of the newly revised program's quality in an urban school district in southeast Georgia. The researcher employed a qualitative approach to collect data. Archival documents, semi-structured and storytelling interviews were utilized to gather data to determine results. Findings indicated that the revision was not implemented in its entirety. Three of the eight revisions were implemented according to state guidelines. The remaining five revisions purported in the original state announcement were not included in the original plan. RESA personnel participants felt the program had achieved its short-term goal, to consolidate all state alternative routes programs under one state rule. School-based mentor participants felt that the program had not attained its short-term goal, to provide individualized support to the new teacher candidate. School based mentor participants believed that the program was helpful but not a quality program. [The dissertation citations contained here are published with the permission of ProQuest LLC.
