AbstractPoverty most likely will always be a concern in the United States, particularly in at-risk populations of the public schools. Many students in poverty enter public schools behind in academic and social skills due to a lack of quality early learning experiences. Regular education teachers work diligently to catch these children up in vital skills; however, the task is difficult and overwhelming. Teachers have to re-teach much prior content before even getting students on grade level. Classroom teachers need additional help aiding them in achieving learner outcomes and keeping test scores up. One teacher alone in the classroom has a daunting and discouraging task continually having to catch children up on learning. This article discusses the vital need for reinforcers in and out of the classroom. Included in this text are ten practical and useful ways to catch at-risk students up and get them on track for hopefully a lifetime of academic success. (As Provided).
