AbstractThis qualitative study examined the collaboration of general and special education teachers as well as the principals' perceptions of their responsibilities in sustaining effective collaboration in ensuring the services for the students with disabilities. The qualitative data were collected through one-on-one interviews from a team of general education, special education teachers, and the school principals from two school districts in Wisconsin. The results of the descriptive study revealed major themes of concerns in collaborative practices and approaches based on the participants' perceptions. The significant findings of this study suggest positive personal experiences among the team teachers as they collaboratively face the daily challenges to meet the needs and ensure the services for students with disabilities. Collaboration between the team members was characterized by practices that are acceptable to both teachers. Both the principal participants expressed their advocacy for the collaboration process in their respective schools. They revealed their perceptions of administrative support that they believed was needed for the effective collaboration and its sustainability.
