| Abstract | Service providers are increasingly recognizing the need to develop effective methods for delivering supporting services to military families during deployment. Research suggests that military families experience increased levels of stress during the cycle of deployment. Bronfenbrenner (1979) conceptualized the family operating within the context of the broader social environment. Hill's (1958) conceptual framework of familial stress posits social resources as a critical component in alleviating stress in the family. The integration of services is viewed as an essential component of providing quality care for families experiencing deployment (Booth, Segal, & Place, 2009). Batten & Pollack's (2008) integrated method for assisting military personnel modified to meet the needs of military families will be the focus of this study. This dissertation outlines a study which examined the perceptions of military family service providers' perceptions of collaborating with other professionals to support families experiencing deployment. Service Providers in U.S. Army family centers across the United States participated in the study. This study utilized a mixed methods approach and involved the Support Service Integration Assessment consisting of quantitative and qualitative items along with follow-up phone interviews to examine the integration process. Service providers provided their perceptions of the collaboration with other professionals to support families experiencing deployment. Both quantitative and qualitative analysis was used to analyze the perceptions of the service providers. Service providers discussed the benefits of collaboration, the barriers to support service integration, and their views on ways in which to expand collaboration with other professionals when working with military families experiencing deployment. The results of this study regarding their perceptions of support service integration for military families experiencing deployment and the implications for future service will be discussed.
