Abstract"Pots of Gold" is a family finance research project delivered within Sure Start Children's Centre areas across Newcastle. It is funded by the DfES through the Basic Skills Agency and managed by Newcastle Family Learning Service. This project has been delivered in two phases, running from October 2005 to December 2006. Phase 1 ran from October 2005 to April 2006 and concentrated on the following key outcomes: (1) researching organisational and learner needs in relation to family finance in Children's Centre settings; (2) the design and delivery of customised 12-hour programmes, with supporting resources, linked to the Every Child Matters, (ECM) outcomes "Enjoy and Achieve", "Achieve Economic Well-being" and "Stay Healthy"; and (3) evaluation internally and externally. Phase 2 ran from April 2006 to December 2006 and aimed to extend the research and delivery of 12-hour programmes to include new Children's Centre settings not included in Phase 1. Pots of Gold has been a highly successful project, which has been well received and promoted across the City of Newcastle by a wide range of people and organisations. This paper describes why Pots of Gold has been so successful. (ERIC).
