AbstractInstructors at universities face many of the same concerns. They have to prepare and organize their courses, teach those courses and provide assignments, assess the learning of the students, and then evaluate the effectiveness of their teaching style. Even though these experiences are common, learning environments in higher education are increasingly diverse, and this diversity impacts every aspect of the institution. "Technology and Diversity in Higher Education: New Challenges" provides current and effective educational practices, and examines new challenges involving emerging technologies in increasingly diverse learning environments. This book studies current knowledge on how students learn, and the application of that knowledge to technology. It contains 13 chapters: (1) Scanners and Readers (Christopher Schreiner); (2) Intergenerational Learning (Joyce McCauley and Marilyn Rice); (3) Developing Technology-Based Education for Adult Learners in Micronesia (Lucyann Kerry); (4) Crossing the Digital Divide (Catherine Stoicovy and John Sanchez); (5)Information and Communication Technologies (Glenn Finger, Maret McGlasson and Paul Finger); (6) Technology in physician Education (Michelle LaBrunda and Jose Cortes); (7) University Students' Perceptions of Computer Technology Experiences (Yukiko Inoue); (8) Internet Overuse on College Campuses (Mary Miller); (9) Adoption of Online Courses in Higher Education (Anita Enriquez); (10) A Collaborative Learning Environment to Support Distance Learning Students in Developing Nations (Michelle Dottore and Steve Spencer); (11) Research in the Pacific (Denise Uehara); (12) Using Video to Productively Engage Learners (Nancy Schmitz); and (13) Higher Learning int eh Pacific (Kirk Johnson, Jonathan Lee, Rebecca Stephenson and Julius Cena).
