Abstract | This paper describes a project designed to evaluate a 5-day clinical supervision workshop. The failure of Kirkpatrick's 4-level evaluation model to include key contextual input variables is demonstrated to be a critical evaluative shortcoming. The project shows how the use of valid diagnostic tools like the Learning Transfer Systems Inventory can help evaluators overcome this fatal flaw, gain insight into key factors influencing training effectiveness, and make competent recommendations for improving training and learning transfer.
