Abstract | Theory suggests that protege and mentor characteristics influence the development and process of mentoring relationships. This study investigates the role of one variable that is a joint function of protege and mentor characteristics: the nature of the reporting relationship between proteges and their mentors. Results suggest managers who report to their mentors have higher organizational commitment and career satisfaction than those without mentors. However, other variables were not associated with the nature of the reporting relationship. (Contains 2 tables.) [For complete proceedings, see ED491481.] (Author). |
