AbstractHelp young students master concepts of print, phonemic awareness, and alphabet knowledge--the key predictors of early literacy success and school readiness. After a glossary and an introduction, this book is divided into the following chapters: (1) What Young Children Need to Know about Print; (2) Connecting Child Development with Learning about Print; (3) Providing a Print-Rich Environment; (4) Skills and Strategies: An Overview; (5) Strategies for Developing Concepts of Print; (6) Phonemic Awareness: Moving from Oral Language to Beginning Links with Print; and (7) Alphabet Knowledge.
