AbstractThis document presents the results of a project to develop new designs for career and technical education (CTE) at the secondary and postsecondary levels in the context of the process and recommendations used in two previous projects that identified new designs for comprehensive high schools and two-year postsecondary institutions. The document is a compendium of 103 design reviews of research, policies, and exemplary practices that focus on whole high school and community/technical college reform and incorporate the results of research and promising practice, including integration of academic education and CTE, articulation of secondary and postsecondary education, and coordination of school and work-based learning. The compendium begins with overviews of the project's purpose, process, and projects. After a detailed discussion of the process of the design reviews' development, 103 design reviews are presented. The design reviews are organized according to the following areas of focus: learning context; learning audience; learning signature; learning expectations; learning process; learning organization; learning partnerships; learning staffing; learning environment; learning accountability; learning celebration; and learning finance. Twelve tables are included. Lists of authors contributing to the design reviews, national design group members, national design studio workshop participants, and site visit locations and agency presentations are appended. The bibliography lists 616 references. (MN)
