Abstract | This book reports teaching practices in mathematics in seven countries from the Third International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) 1999 video study. A detailed description of the methods in the mathematics portion of the study is presented in an accompanying technical report from an international perspective. Contexts of the lessons, the structure of lessons, the mathematical content of lessons, and instructional practices are presented in terms of similarities and differences in grade 8 mathematics teaching across seven countries.
