| Abstract | Differentiating textbooks is modifying or adapting textbooks in ways that make them easier for students to read and comprehend and then to retain what they have read. This book explains how teachers can motivate their students as they are confronted with text which is generally written in a "less-than-engaging" expository style. The strategies included in the book are aimed at all students, not just struggling learners, although identified special needs and Section 504 students (those not identified as having special needs but who require accommodations of some kind) will benefit from them as well. Chapters in the book are: (1) Ways to Create Random Groupings; (2) Selecting and Adapting Textbooks; (3) Before-Reading Strategies; (4) During-Reading Strategies; and (5) After-Reading Strategies.
