Abstract | This document, which is the first part in a two-part set of modules on anatomy and physiology for future surgical technicians, contains the teacher and student editions of an introduction to anatomy and physiology that consists of modules on the following topics: (1) organization of the human body; (2) biochemistry and microbiology; (3) infection, immunology, and sanitation; and (4) tissue, membranes, and wound healing. The teacher edition contains an introductory section and the learning modules. The introduction presents the following materials: an overview of the materials and guidelines for their use; an instructional/task analysis identifying the cognitive skills addressed in each module; academic and workplace skill classifications and definitions of the basic skill classifications used by the Multistate Academic and Vocational Curriculum Consortium and the Secretary's Commission on Achieving Necessary Skills; and a list of related academic and workplace skills. The remainder of the teacher's edition consists of the learning modules plus the following items for each: suggested activities; transparency masters; written tests and test answers; assignment sheets and answers; crossword puzzles and answers; and module reviews and answers. The student edition consists of the four learning modules, each of which contains the following elements: learning activity sheets; module objective sheet; information sheets; student supplements; and student assignment sheets.
