| Abstract | Careers guidance in Scotland is about to undergo major structural change with the creation of Careers Scotland which will provide a national, all-age careers guidance service. Among its aims, Careers Scotland seeks to establish national quality standards for careers provision. This briefing draws on a recently completed study of the effectiveness of careers services in Scotland to consider some of the issues involved in assessing the quality and effectiveness of careers guidance work.
