Abstract | This document contains 10 short monographs on priority issues relevant to the health and well-being of migrant and seasonal farmworkers and their families. An introduction by Daniel Hawkins discusses the important role of migrant health centers in providing primary and preventive health care services to this disadvantaged and underserved population. The monographs are: (1) "Dental/Oral Health Services" (Gina R. Lombardi); (2) "Environmental/Occupational Safety and Health" (Alice Larson); (3) "Medicaid and the State Children's Health Insurance Program" (Elizabeth Arendale); (4) "Mental Health and Substance Abuse" (Joseph D. Hovey); (5) "Outreach Services" (Tina Castanares); (6) "Domestic Violence Services" (Rachel Rodriguez); (7) "Disaster Relief" (Elia Gallardo); (8) "Housing" (Christopher Holden); (9) "Recruitment, Retention, and Training of Bilingual/Bicultural Staff" (Marian McDonald); and (10) "Child Labor" (Shelley Davis). Many monographs include discussions of related health education needs and training of medical and health professionals. (Contains references in each monograph.) (SV) |
