Abstract | School counselor education programs are challenged to reassess whether they are providing their students with optimal internship learning experiences. This paper examines the evolution and design of one school counseling fieldwork program. It discusses the implications for school counselors who serve as site supervisors for counselors-in-training. Tools are provided for assisting programs in their own assessment and evaluation process that recognizes the variation in programs and student needs. Although the primary responsibility for internship programs lies with the university, it is essential to collaborate with local school districts, particularly with the school counselors who function as site supervisors for school counselors-in-training.
