Abstract | Noting that parents and caregivers of infants and young children need to be aware of many potential hazards in the child's environment, this booklet provides assistance in buying nursery products, using them safely, and keeping them in good repair. The following furnishings and equipment are discussed: (1) cribs and crib toys; (2) bathing aids, buckets, and pails; (3) gates and enclosures; (4) high chairs; (5) play pens; (6) rattles, squeeze toys, and teethers; (7) toy chests; (8) walkers; (9) back carriers; (10) bassinets and cradles; (11) carrier seats; (12) hook-on chairs; (13) changing tables; (14) pacifiers; and (15) strollers and carriages. The booklet concludes with a list of general household tips and a safe nursery checklist to use as a guide when buying new or second-hand nursery products. (KB) |
