Abstract | Part of a series of instructor guides designed to support Ohio's ACT Work Keys System, this book is designed for teachers and industry trainers seeking strategies to prepare people to read and interpret workplace graphics. It is for instructors of all subject areas, parents, mentors, and trainers; has skills meant for all learners; supports what instructors are already doing; supplements the curriculum; reflects the format of the ACT Work Keys Systems; and divides instructional strategies and practice problems by Work Keys level. Sections 1-6 provide an overview of the Work Keys System; define "locating information;" explain how to use the book to improve learners' locating information skills; and outline assessment. Sections 7-10 cover locating information--improving to Work Keys levels 3, 4, 5, and 6. Each section focuses on one level and consists of these components: characteristics of that level's graphics; that level's locating information skills; prerequisite skills; graphics descriptions and learning activities; and practice problems with answers. Appendixes include information on locating information resources, information testing resources, and a ready-to-use assessment. (YLB) |
