Abstract | This book provides a reflective process through which teachers may consider their distinctness as educators in a Catholic school. After an overview that discusses the ideal Catholic school teacher, the book focuses on five themes: Teacher as Community Builder; Teacher as Committed to Lifelong Spiritual Growth; Teacher as Committed to Lifelong Professional Development; Teacher as Committed to Students' Spiritual Formation; and Teacher as Committed to Students' Human Development. Each section includes a teacher self-inventory, questions for reflection, and further resources. The conclusion presents an assessment of effectiveness as a Catholic school educator and questions for reflection. Suggestions for administrators using the book are presented. The two appendixes offer Percentage of Text in Church Documents on Education Devoted to Themes Descriptive of the Ideal Catholic School Teacher and Subthemes Descriptive of the Ideal Catholic School Teacher Extracted from Church Documents on Education.
