Abstract | This report summarizes the work and achievements of Year 2 of the Positive Parenting Project. The project was designed to support parents in combating the effects of poverty in four disadvantaged communities in Scotland, by using a needs-led and preventive approach; by working in partnership with parents and other agencies to develop sustainable structures; by providing parents with opportunities for self-help, support, information, and training; and by providing quality child care. The report notes that in Year 2, the project increased the level of contact with parents and children and built up a wide network of contacts with agencies and organizations in each of the communities. The report delineates specific achievements for each community and outlines future reports and action plans for Year 3 of the project. In addition, the report describes project activities related to organizing seminars, presenting at conferences, and developing newsletters, journal articles, and other publications. (KB) |
