| Abstract | The program demonstrated in this paper, "The Classroom Behavior Record: School Version," is an alternative approach for training personnel in observational skills, designed for educators and health care professionals. The purpose of the program is to provide efficient and effective training in a flexible, learner-centered, hypermedia format. The program being demonstrated utilizes a "repurposed" interactive videodisc with new software designed to enhance user recordkeeping and authentic practice while maintaining pedagogical effectiveness on the stages of the learning model. This paper describes the "Classroom Behavior Record" (CBR) observation procedure and the instructional design of the CBR training program, including the direct instruction model that it is based on, hypermedia design elements, knowledge/skills acquisition and fluency, and the generalization and maintenance stage. The implementation and validation of the training effectiveness is then discussed. (AEF) |
