Abstract	This paper provides a collection of materials and suggestions concerning students with attention deficit disorders (ADD) in mainstream mathematics classes. The presentation begins with a summary of selected standards from the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics' Professional Standards and raises the question of whether attention deficits are addressed within the Standards. It continues with an analysis of statistics on the incidence of attention deficit disorders; an outline of developmental demands for attention at different stages (from preschool through high school); an illustration of one model of the brain's operation; a listing of behaviors and mathematical indicators associated with the specific attentional problems of hyperactivity, distractibility, and impulsivity; and lists of mathematical concepts likely to be troublesome to ADD students and those mathematical concepts that ADD students often like. Specific strategies for teachers are organized into descriptive lists dealing with classroom management, teaching techniques that focus on the strengths of ADD students and those of all students, homework and the ADD student, and assessment strategies for ADD students. The paper concludes with a listing of psychological factors of ADD. (Contains 20 references for teachers and children.) (DB)
