Abstract | This guide, entirely in Spanish, is designed for language training of Peace Corps workers in Paraguay and reflects daily communication needs in that context. It consists of 10 thematic instructional units, each targeting 2 to 7 specific language competencies. A table of contents outlines the units, competencies, and related grammar points and constructions. Each unit contains a brief dialogue and vocabulary list (with English translation) for each targeted competency, grammar notes, and a series of completion, fill-in-the-black, matching, and translation exercises. Unit topics include: greetings and personal identification; exchange of personal information; discussion of family; food and meals; discussing weather; giving and getting directions, and transportation; describing people and activities; housing; clothing; and telephone usage and invitations. The units are followed by a series of pronunciation exercises and an answer key. (MSE) |
