Abstract | This workbook is designed to assist teenagers and adults in learning the Koyukon language, and is intended as a classroom supplement. Users are encouraged to use the language with native speakers. The text consists of 36 lessons on grammar, conversation, and language patterns: exclamations; a beginning conversation; single words that form a sentence; Koyukon dialects; weather; verbs of position; past and perfective tenses; noun possession; body parts; possessing animal body parts; kin terms; human plurals; numbers and counting; the verb "to eat"; cooking verbs; yes-no questions; human demonstratives; verbs of crying out; direct object prefixes; watching movies; drinking verbs; the verb "to work"; the verbs "to make"; the verb "to be happy"; verbs of motion; future tense; the inceptive tense; and the optative tense. Vocabulary lists, dictation, translation, and other exercises, and illustrations are included in each lesson. Two crossword puzzles are appended. (MSE) |
