Abstract | Noting that since the 1970s cooperative learning has been widely investigated regarding its implementation and efficacy, this booklet is designed to introduce the teaching strategy of cooperative learning to classroom teachers. The booklet first provides an overview and supplies a context for cooperative learning and then defines cooperative learning. The booklet then presents several models of the teaching strategy and discusses how to begin (i.e., providing the requisite "classroom climate" for cooperative learning). Diverse classroom activities are presented and several classroom management issues are discussed in this section. The booklet concludes by discussing curriculum adaptation--emphasizing 2 models of cooperative learning: D. W. and R. T. Johnsons' learning together and Spencer Kagan's structural approach. (NKA) |
