Abstract	This small book is designed to be an easy-to-read, practical introduction for college freshmen to the college setting. Written by a college art instructor and designed to answer many of the questions that official college publications may not answer clearly, it presents information in short, direct, one or two paragraph items. The items are grouped under several broad sections on the following topics: (1) behaviors to be encouraged and avoided; (2) personal suggestions to help make the transition to college life; (3) knowledge of self (items to help define the individual); (4) abilities necessary for college success; (5) readings to develop background and understandings for successful students; (6) definitions and customs in college life; (7) student rights and responsibilities; and (8) a college time line. Appendixes include typical types of campus services and spaces to fill in the location and availability of those services at an individual's own institution, a list of interesting educational statistics, and an index.
