AbstractThis book provides 50 recycling ideas for children and features Recycle Rex, the state of California's "spokesdinosaur" for recycling. An introduction contains recycling background information on waste disposal options and reducing, reusing, and recycling. Recycling suggestions are divided into nine sections: (1) "Learn What You Can Recycle" reviews the most common recyclables, what they are, and how they can be recycled; (2) "Recycle at Home" outlines five simple steps for home recycling; (3) "Reuse Things Around Your Home" offers five suggestions; (4) "Pass It On" discusses three ideas for giving things away as a recycling option; (5) "Be a Smart Shopper" reviews five questions that shoppers can ask themselves in an effort to recycle; (6) "Recycle in Your Own Backyard" provides information on composting food and yard waste; (7) "Bring Recycling to School" contains seven suggestions for recycling projects at school; (8) "Spread the Word" offers five suggestions for sharing information; and (9) "Recycling Projects" provides instructions for four recycling activities, including making recycled paper and "precycling" a party. A California resources sections contains four educational resources and 58 local sources of recycling information. (LZ)
