AbstractThis report contains summary tables of state graduation rates for the class of 1993 of the Colorado public schools and dropout rates for the 1992-93 school year. Reports of graduation and dropout rates are further broken down by school district. The graduation rate is a cumulative or longitudinal rate that calculates the number of students who actually graduate as a percentage of those who were in membership and could have graduated over a four-year period. The dropout rate is an annual rate that reflects the percentage of all students enrolled in grades 7 through 12 who leave school during the reporting period and are not known to transfer to other public or private schools. Three tables present summaries of statewide graduation rates, completer rates (graduates plus students receiving other certificates of completion from a Colorado high school), and graduation rates by size and setting for the more than 170 school districts. Figures 1 and 2 present graduation rates by ethnic and racial group, excluding and including the state's alternative schools. Tables 4 through 12 present graduation, completer, and dropout rates by school district. Figures 3 and 4 permit comparison of dropout rates over the past 5 years. The graduation rate for the class of 1993 statewide is 79.9 percent, and the state's dropout rate for the 1992-93 school year was 4.3 percent. Both figures represent an increase over the preceding year. (SLD)
