Abstract | The ninth grade unit in Ukrainian as a second language, the third in a series, is designed as a teacher's guide for use in Alberta secondary schools. An introductory section outlines the unit's objectives. It is followed by six "concept" sections, each of which charts content and classroom techniques to be used in teaching time-related concepts. The concepts include: months of the year; use of the expression "in the month of..."; days of the week; stating on which day something occurs; time; and alternative expressions of time. For each concept, the chart contains suggestions for initial classroom presentation, reinforcement, and expansion, and provides teacher notes, dialogue, and exercises. Cultural and etymological notes on the months of the year, suggestions for visual aids, a proposed unit timetable, and a list of additional resources are appended. (MSE) |
