Abstract	This guide to integrating academic and vocational education is the result of extensive research and experimentation at four pilot sites throughout Texas. The introductory section outlines the project philosophy and activities and describes the pilot sites. Examined in a background section are the origin and nature of integration, important relevant educational legislation and reports, the changing workplace and the current U.S. education system, educational reform and restructuring, and business and industry complaints about workers. The role of curriculum integration in solving existing problems is analyzed. Provided next are general procedures and a step-by-step plan for integration. The 3-year integration plans of the four pilot sites are presented. Included in a resource section are the following: extensive annotated lists (amounting to over 225 pages) of integration resources for academic and vocational teachers, career development/guidance counselors, persons responsible for obtaining funding, individuals concerned with general integration topics, and staff developers. The teacher resources are organized by the following subject areas: language arts, math, science, social studies, agriculture, auto mechanics, building trades, electronics, health occupations, home economics, industry and technology, and microcomputer applications.
